Echo of Shadows, 2015, pigment print on baryta , various size

Echo of Shadows is a set of photographs of different formats, independent and yet that form a whole. In these images, we perceive light flashes, almost abstract images, a self-portrait blurred shot in the reflection of a window, aerial images of Central Asia, trees falling in a forest, bulls in herds or alone, and press articles.

Together, these images draw a map of different emotional strata. Taken between 2008 and 2015, they are based on several questions about the world, as we perceive it, as we saw it. There is the local: the self-portrait, a questioning of the responsibility of an artist to show some images, to create images, and the universal: a questioning on our environment damaged by our own human activity, on our democratic political systems that impose democracy by undemocratic means and on a return to obscurantism through a rise in extremisms of all kind. Bulls are a kind of allegory of the human condition with bulls raised to be killed, powerful animals that become victims of our own power.

Through the combination of these images, I try to create an emotional map that would describe a sense of an intense fragility and vulnerability, questioning our systems.
